Nov7

We are proud to announce the Northwest Concert Band’s 2026 Fall Concert, taking place on Saturday, November 7 at 3pm. America returned to space in 2026 with Artemis II, marking the first time humans traveled around the moon in more than half a century. We honor this achievement with “Out of This World!”, a concert of unearthly music.

Our program will include pieces such as the following:

  • “Music from Apollo 13” by James Horner arr. John Moss. This piece includes a medley of stirring music from the 1995 movie “Apollo 13”, which tells the story of the ill-fated NASA Apollo 13 mission and man’s triumph over adversity.

  • “Space And Beyond” arr. John Moss. We travel through space and time with music from “Star Wars” by John Williams, “Star Trek – The Motion Picture” by Jerry Goldsmith, “Mars (From the Planets)” by Holst, and more. Hold on to your seats for a trip into space and beyond!

  • “Guardians of the Galaxy” arr. Michael Brown. Listen to soundtrack highlights from the 2014 movie “Guardians of the Galaxy”, where superheroes fight to save the universe, apparently while listening to famous 1970’s rock hits.

  • “Venus, the Bringer of Peace” by Gustav Holst arr. Randy Steinberg. “Venus” is the second movement in the orchestral suite The Planets and is the calm and peaceful response to the first movement, “Mars, the Bringer of War.”

  • “Moon Symphony” arr. Randy Steinberg. Listen closely to this arrangement of famous songs with “Moon” in the title and see how many you can identify. It’s okay if you can’t help singing along!

You will also hear “Armenian Dances” by Alfred Reed, “Symphony No. 9 (From the New World)” by Antonin Dvorak arr. James Curnow, and more.

The concert will be held at the Community Church of Rolling Meadows, 2720 Kirchoff Road, Rolling Meadows. Admission is $10 for adults payable at the door. Ages 18 and younger attend for free.
